How learning a new language changes your brain - at any age By Pennsylvania University Team Research in The Journal of Neurolinguistics:
“Second language experience-induced brain changes, including increased grey matter density and white matter integrity, can be found in children, young adults, and the elderly; can occur rapidly with short-term language learning or training; and are sensitive to age, age of acquisition, proficiency or performance level, language-specific characteristics, and individual differences.“(…)"A very interesting finding is that, contrary to previous studies, the brain is much more plastic than we thought.”(…) "We can still see anatomical changes in the brain [in the elderly], which is very encouraging news for ageing.“ said lead researcher and professor of psychology, linguistics and information sciences and technology, Ping Li.

Tango

On your Tango journey, you will always meet people who try to put doubts in your mind with such negative comments like:‘Your leg isn’t right’ or ‘Don’t move your hand around like that’But don’t worry, the Universe in its kindness is just testing you, sending you strategic messages by an indirect way, the others.

The goal of Tango Attitude is not to educate its Students so as just to please others. The spirit of Tango Attitude is to promote people’s wellbeing by giving its Students the opportunity to express themselves through the creation of their own individual Argentine Tango style.

Tango Attitude teaches the Student the essential basis of the dance so that these fundamentals become the Student's ‘Tango Database’;Then the Student learns how and when to apply individual parts of these fundamentals to the music. This training step is reached when this becomes intuitive due to the Student's involvement at lessons and practice; and

Thus, the Student is able to refine by himself, consciously or unconsciously that database knowledge so as to create his/her own individual dance style, express his/her own personality through the music and share the most of privileged of moments with his/her dance partner.

Placeholder image Hockey has had over sixteen years practical experience in studying, researching and dancing , and . His dynamic dancing style has been described by Gold Coast Tango teacher Karina Viegas as reminiscent of well-known Buenos Aires milonguero .

Steve’s dancing skills in all three disciplines are based on the he learnt internationally through his association with the following overseas dancing schools and teachers:

  • Tango (Core Instruction) – Alberto Paz (Deceased) and Valorie Hart [New Orleans, USA]
  • Milonga (Core Instruction) – Omar Vega (Deceased) [Argentina]
  • Vals (Core Instruction) – George Garcia and Christy Coté [USA]

As such Steve’s Tango instruction method is as it does not rely upon any ‘8-Count’ Basic step nor upon any ‘straight-line’ walking. Rather it relies upon a practical and easily danceable to which improvisations are added. Similarly Steve’s Milonga instruction is not merely Tango steps trying to fit into Milonga rhythms. Rather Steve teaches a different technique for Milonga because it is a completely different dance in its own right.

Steve has now formed Tango Attitude with his close friend Hubert so that he may share his knowledge with any person seeking to learn any one of the above disciplines whether for the first time or by way of refreshing or improving their existing knowledge.

On the Gold Coast (2014-2015) she returned to Argentine Tango and took lessons from John and Cheryl Lowry and Alejandro Barriga. Today, she enjoys working with Steve to improve her Tango and to share this knowledge with people who demand tuition.
